The Alaska Energy Authority and Kodiak Electric Association expanded a system of three GE 1.5 megawatt wind turbines that serves the city of Kodiak. The wind farm doubled to six wind turbines that provides approximately 18% of Kodiak's electrical needs. The variable wind power will be integrated into Kodiak's hydroelectric system with two 1-megawatt battery storage systems.
The project was completed in the fall of 2012.
