| Hydrokinetics Technical Conference April 12, 2010 |
Over 60 professionals from across Alaska, Washington, Massachusetts, Alabama, and Alberta gathered at the BP Energy Center for a half-day technical conference. Presentations were provided by five hydrokinetic turbine manufacturers and one conceptual design. The audience consisted of state and federal resource agency personnel, hydrokinetic developers, state and federal funding agencies, consultants, university researchers, and interested NGOs.
The first purpose of the conference was to provide information and education on technical attributes of river and tidal hydrokinetic turbines to resource agencies, university researchers, developers, and interested NGOs. Secondly, the conference acted as a venue for the various entities to collaborate on defining clear objectives for needed studies, which will be carried on in future, more focused meetings.
