A proposed Wind Project Development (WPD) program would execute projects that result in feasibility analysis for wind and wind-diesel projects in Alaska. The goals of the program are the documentation of wind resources in Alaska, feasibility determinations for specific wind and wind-diesel projects in Alaska, and the support of communities pursuing wind projects in improving their business strategies and securing financing for wind projects. The WPD program replaces the application process initially developed for the Wind Advisory Group (WAG) Technical Assistance Program (TAP) and provides a funding mechanism for phase one of the WAG TAP, including wind and wind-diesel feasibility assessments in communities throughout Alaska. The WPD program is in development and may launch in the summer of 2019.
