Karen Turner-Thern, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Chief Human Resources Officer

Karen Turner-Thern joined the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) and the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) as its chief human resources officer in June 2023. Turner-Thern has more than 25 years of Human Resources experience. Prior to joining AEA and AIDEA, she held HR leadership positions in healthcare and the public sector. Turner-Thern's areas of expertise include employee relations, employee engagement, performance management, and total rewards.

Her professional designations include Human Resources Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Society of Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

Turner-Thern holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communication from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a Master of Business Administration from the Alaska Pacific University.
