On May 9, 2022, the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) submitted the Notice of Intent to Participate in the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2022 Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) program. AEA’s portion is $519,069 of new federal funding with AEA contributing $519,069 from the Rural Power System Upgrade Program for a total budget of $1,038,138. This project is expected to replace two diesel engines and generators (where needed) in two rural powerhouses.
