Alaska Permanent Fund, Division Director
A lifelong Alaskan, Anna MacKinnon has lived in Anchorage, Eagle River, Fairbanks and Unalaska. MacKinnon and her husband John recently relocated their home to Juneau.
MacKinnon graduated high school from Service High in Anchorage and later studied finance and accounting at the University of Alaska. While raising two boys, she served as the president of the Parent Teacher Association and on her Community Council. For the last 20 years Anna was elected to represent the broader community of Chugiak-Eagle River, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, and a portion of East Anchorage as an Anchorage Assembly member, an Alaska State Representative, and most recently as an Alaska State Senator.
While elected MacKinnon held multiple leadership positions including chair, co-chair and vice chair of many committees in Alaska’s Legislature. Much of her time was invested in Alaska’s Finance Committees. As a co-chair of Senate Finance Anna and her team managed the states Capital Budget through multiple years of challenging budget times. She chaired the Departments of Law and Revenue’s Budget subcommittees and worked closely with the Permanent Fund Corporation on their budget.
Nationally MacKinnon served on the National Conference of State Legislatures as a co-chair of their Labor and Economic Development Committee.
